Cross-country skiing in Dusseldorf in December
Dusseldorf - After six years as a stop-start cross-country skiing World Cup takes place in Düsseldorf 2008 the first imDezember. The date of 20 and 21 December, the organizers confirmed on Thursday in the provincial capital.
This time it's not just for World Cup points, but also to dieQualifikation for the World Championships in Liberec, Czech Republic (February 18 to March 1, 2009).
National coach Jochen Behle said: "We compete with our best sprinters, we hereby order to measure the international elite." The hopes of the German Mannschaftträgt especially Josef Wenzl (won 2007 in Düsseldorf).
"The new appointment in the middle of December brings the Veranstaltungin Dusseldorf even more in the center of the World Cup winter", sagtePeter Schlickenrieder, Vice-President of the German Ski Federation (DSV). "The races amRheinufer are the biggest World Cup event of the season."
The individual competitions in the sprint to the ladies and gentlemen should be held amSamstag (20 December), on Sunday (December 21) stehtder team sprint on the program.
Last year über300.000 visitors came to the cross-country skiing on the Rhine.
